چکیده

The particle emissions from a commercial brake system utilizing copper-free pads have been characterized on dynamometer under two real-world driving cycles. These included novel cycle developed analysis of the database World Harmonized Test Procedure (WLTP-Brake) and short version Los Angeles City Traffic (3h-LACT) in framework European LowBraSys project. Disc temperature measurements using an array embedded thermocouples revealed large temporal spatial non-uniformity with radial distribution depending also test procedure. Averaging over duration cycle, it effectively reduced influence thermocouple positioning, allowing for more reliable quantification effectiveness convective cooling. Particulate Matter (PM) were similar both cycles PM2.5 averaging at 2.2 (±0.2) mg/km WLTP-Brake 3h-LACT, respectively. corresponding PM10 5.6 8.6 (±0.7) mg/km, formation nanosized particles peaking 10 nm, which thermally stable 350 °C Volatile nanoparticles observed demanding 3h-LACT their emission rates decreasing increasing tunnel flow, suggesting nucleation organic vapors released during braking as potential process.

Brake wear particle emissions: a review

Traffic-related sources have been recognized as a significant contributor of particulate matter particularly within major cities. Exhaust and non-exhaust traffic-related sources are estimated to contribute almost equally to traffic-related PM10 emissions. Non-exhaust particles can be generated either from non-exhaust sources such as brake, tyre, clutch and road surface wear or already exist in ...

Temperature Field and Thermal Stress Analyses of High-Speed Train Brake Disc Under Pad Variations

Transient heat transfer analysis of disc brake has been performed to find out an ideal shape of pad geometry. The analysis has taken frictional heat between brake disc and pads as heat flux onto the friction surface, the disc and the pad's temperature fields then were explored involving thermal conduction, forced convection and surface radiation effects. The disc thermal expansion stress was th...

How to play a disc brake

We consider a gyroscopic system with two degrees of freedom under the action of small dissipative and non-conservative positional forces, which has its origin in the models of rotating bodies of revolution being in frictional contact. The spectrum of the unperturbed gyroscopic system forms a ”spectral mesh” in the plane ”frequency – gyroscopic parameter” with double semi-simple purely imaginary...
